looks great but,,poor swivel unit
I was looking for a stool the would be used for daily meals,,so it had to be a sturdy unit.The design and appearance caught my eye and met my criteria,,but the construction was not what I thought it would be. The wood used is quality and the finish is too but the hardware such as the swivel unit is not. The stool rocks as it swivels,, even though it is not supposed to. The swivel unit is flimsey and should be upgraded. The appearance is quality but the swivel is flimsey.

Excellent Purchase!
Almost didn't purchase due to negative feedback posted. Wife liked styling so we decided to take risk...Couldn't have made a better choice...100% wood (sturdy) as advertised. Matches kitchen decor perfectly! Great value! One again Momma knows best!

We bought three stools. two were shipped from the same place together and the third from someplace else (all "by amazon"). The third stool is of obvious lower quality. The swivel has far fewer bearings and the color and construction is different and low quality. The two that shipped together are stunning! Very high quality both in color and construction, including high end swivel mechanism. Too bad all three couldnt have been shipped together.

Did they bother testing putting these things togther???
I decided to buy 3 of these stools for my kitchen island. My husband and I have been on a shopping spree of buying furniture lately that requires us to put it together, which we don't mind at all. Recently we put together a night stand with 2 drawers and a dresser with 6 drawers and had no problems at all. With that being said, I think these are the worst design ever as far as how they are put together. The pieces and tools could have been much better thought out. The instructions do not clearly explain which way to turn the side slats at the top and you need to have the large holes on the bottom. If you don't figure that out on your own you will end up taking it apart and starting over. Also, the seat is screwed into the base and the wood of the seat is cracked and soft and the screws weren't really the right size. We had to find better screws and use toothpicks to rescrew the screws into the holes in the seat. I would have thought these would have been the easiest items to put...

Didn't Fit Together
Assembly wasn't possible because some nuts were imbedded at the wrong angle. The mating screws would not align properly with the imbedded nuts.
poor quality/long reimbursement after returning
Unsafe for anyone over 100 pounds. Very poor construction details, nothing fits together and screws do not screw into designated areas. Purchased in December and still not reimbursed for return. This product is a liability to anyone who purchases it.

great looks, great durability, great value
Do not hesitate on these bar stools. They look even better in person than online, they are very sturdy (not shakey at all). They are a great value for the price. I was very pleased and continue to be pleased as my family uses them everyday.

Very Nice
These stools are very nice and the price is great. I may be a little picky but one of the stools had a small white spot on the slate. I thought it was sticky paper and tried to rub it off. That is when I realized it was the slate itself. I am not sure if I need to put something on it to make it look like the rest of the stool. However, it is very small and I seem to be the only one who notices it. I do love these stools and wouldnt dream of sending them back. Mostly because of the hassle. I was surprised at how sturdy and pretty they are and the do look great.
Made in China
Pros: It's a decent product for the price. It looks nice. At first glance you do not initially notice the plastic vs tile inlays.
Cons: We ordered one stool initially and after receiving the first one ordered two more. The first stool's tile was actually plastic. Of the second two ordered, one back was like slate, the other like tile, and one of the two was missing the swivel from the packaging. Seller sent another stool. Of four total stools, three had tears in the seat top and we had to try and hide the tears by installing the seat back along the tear. That fourth stool again had a plastic tile top. So you really don't know which version you will get when you order this because we ordered these from the same seller each time. It's not made as sturdy as a welded stool. Metal is hollow and not solid iron. Packaging for all four stools was pretty beat up inside with styrofoam all broken up inside. Most included additional washers that were not used in the assembly...

Look nice and seem sturdy
They look really nice assembled in our kitchen. They seem very sturdy (time will tell) and all legs are level with the floor, i.e., no rocking. One complaint is that the precision of the manufacturing is not as good as it could be. some of the parts had to be slightly forced to fit. But, in the end they did. The instructions are also very minimal. More assembly pictures would have been nice. One suggestion when assembling is to NOT tighten any of the leg screws (there are 16) until all of the screws are in and the chair is loosely assembled.

Overall, for the price, these are great counter height stools.

comfy and sturdy
Each bar stool took about 45 minutes to assemble. They are comfortable and sturdy. We had guests over the holidays who mentioned how much they liked the stools. We put felt pads on the bottom of the legs since they will primarily be on wood floors, and these worked great.
Nice looking
These are very nice looking and easy to put together. I ended up buying two more because they looked so nice.

Great stools!
These stools look great, were well packaged and easy to put together. And a great price to boot! I chose these stools because the style and color match my dining room table perfectly. Also, since they are very shallow, I can push them under the counter and they stay out of the way. Our previous stools were more like chairs with backs, and they took up a lot of room and we were constantly shifting them to get by. (They were also too short for our bar-height counter, but that is another story...)

As one reviewer previously mentioned, when you are unpacking the contents of the box, be sure to look for the red dots on the legs. The legs of the stool are packaged two together - both legs with red dots are in the same bag. The red dots ensure that the holes for the cross bars are facing the right way. Great stools
We ordered these stools and did not know what we were getting for such a low price but we were surprised that they are such great stools. These are as good as any stools in the stores.Very well made and our 4 year old loves to sit on them while he eats at our pass through. I would buy these again.
Warning!
I bought three of these stools in the summer of 2011 for use by teachers daily in classrooms. All 3 stools started to come loose immediately -- the pauwlonia wood is very soft, and the legs have to be retightened every few days or so. My colleague was also sitting on his this past week and put his foot on the cross bar, which snapped in half! If you care about durability, I suggest the "Winsome Wood 30-Inch Dubliner Bar Stool - Set of 2" instead. I have had two of those at home for the last four years and have used them extensively -- they are still in great shape, and cost less!!!
