Excellent everyday dishware
I was looking for several days trying to find the right pattern for my everyday dishware and nothing went pow for me until I found these dishes. I read reviews from other people who ordered other Rachel Ray's dishware and was encouraged to go ahead to buy this set. I love this design and the complementary salad plates and dinner plates which makes the set memorable. I received the dishes today and they were very well packed and nothing was chipped or broken. They are quite substantial, not thin pieces. The only thing is that the rim on the bottom of the plates is very rough, so I bought some felt dish protectors to prevent scratches. That would be my only complaint, this is why I gave the rating of four. I would still recommend the dishes despite that rating. Someone from another review complained about the all the cautions included with the dishes but almost all of them are common sense, like not microwaving dishes right after they have been in the freezer. Unfortunately, Still Made In China & Still Not Disclosed
This is the 2nd set of Rachel Ray plates I have reviewed for Vine. These are quite similar to the "Little Hoot 16-Piece Dinnerware Set" I previously reviewed, with a slightly different pattern & they may be slightly heavier. The list price on this set is 1/3 lower.
For me, the made in China non disclosure is the biggest issue. Unfortunately, they are still not disclosing that until one receives the order. I was impacted by the pet food recall of a few years back, & from research I did at that time I really try to stay away from any product manufactured in mainland China due to an extreme lack of product safety. I find it very frustrating when that information is not available before purchase.
Other than the China issue, I find them to be a bit pricy, but ok otherwise.
Nice design, good for everyday use.
For a good part of last year, I'd been using the Round and Square dinnerware set by Rachael Ray. It was a great set with thick, microwave safe dishes and cups. I didn't have any problems with it at all, and thought I'd give this new Seasons Changing set a try. Right out of the box, I noticed that the plates and bowls didn't weigh as much as the Round and Square ones. I was worried that they might break if set down too hard. Fortunately, these dishes are fairly sturdy and microwave safe as well.
The tree design on all of the pieces is beautiful- I love the colors they chose. It may be more fall/winter, but I don't care- I'll be using them as my regular plates and bowls. Really, the only complaint about the overall design of everything is that the bottom of the plates and bowls is a bit rough and could scratch when stacked on top of each other.
