Not the real thing, only stoneware, not pyroceramic
I have about 6 of these made of the original Corning pyroceramic and we use them all the time to reheat foods. However, these as shown are not the "real thing."

The original "French White" Corningware was made of Corning's famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.

When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides, into thinking the stoneware "French White" was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available to their mothers and sisters.

Slight deception
I was a little surprised/disapointed with the dish dimentions. I can promise you the dish is NOT two inches deep (more like 1 1/2 inches. Also like the larger (2 1/2 qt), french white dish I ordered at the same time the bottom of the dish is unglazed, and very rough (and will scratch up your counters).
Not real CorningWare
This item is not like the original CorningWare. A company called World Kitchens bought the rights to the CorningWare name and uses it on stoneware products. The product is made in China, not Corning, NY. My real complaint is the limited utility of the dishes. A sheet that comes with the dishes warns not to use them under a broiler, under a microwave browning element, in a toaster oven, or any other direct heating source. Obviously, they can't be used to make creme brulee or even shrimp scampi.

It's not pyroceramic Corningware, will chip & break

Not Like the Original
My wife needed a larger Corning Ware dish after she broke hers. As it turned out, after measuring the holder, I order this size, then had to order the next size up. Today's product isn't made of the same material as those in the past and the bottom is a bit rough. However, since we used a holder for a hot dish anyway, the rough bottom wasn't a problem. Just realize that "they don't make 'em like they used to." Seems to hold up as well as the previous ones, but only time will tell.
Arrived broken twice!
Fine product but Amazon packaging was poor and the original and its replacement arrived cracked. Save yourself the time and hassle and get it elsewhere.

Care and Use

CorningWare stoneware bakeware can be used for serving and reheating food. Some stoneware bakeware can be used in microwave, convection and pre-heated conventional oven. Some items may not be appropriate for specific uses. Review information on bottom of items prior to use.

Wash by hand or in automatic dishwasher. Load dishes to avoid bumping against other items during cycle. To remove gray or rust marks, clean with a non-abrasive cleanser. If scouring is necessary, use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads with non-abrasive cleansers. Do not allow stoneware dinnerware to soak/stand in water for an extended period of time. Applied heat after soaking may cause crazing.

Warranty Information

World Kitchen, LLC promise to replace any stoneware bakeware item with a manufacturing defect within one year from date of purchase. Accidental breakage from impact is not covered. Incidental and consequential damages are expressly excluded. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental and consequential damages, so the foregoing limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. received broken
Very poorly packed so when I received my package it was broken in pieces. I emailed the company so they can reship another one. I waited 2 weeks and then I emailed them again about the status and guess what they never reshipped it to me. It took me a total of 1 month to receive my order, so not to dependable.

Corningware
The CorningWare 23-Ounce French White Oval Dish is the perfect size for two people, for so many things -- marinating a small piece of meat or fish, a serving dish for vegetables, baking a small casserole, defrosting small items in the microwave. I can't imagine why Corningware stopped producing them.
